Silent Planet – Everything Was Sound

To be honest, I have been working harder than I have ever worked in my life. I’m super exhausted, and have been trying to better partition work time and fun time. Not to say that work can’t be fun, or it isn’t rewarding, or I don’t love what I do, but your mental health can suffer when there isn’t any down time. All this to say, when things cool off I’ll probably start writing on the experience I’ve gained from work over the past year in novel length intervals.

For now, I want to introduce you to one of the most beautiful albums / bands I have ever heard and actually had the pleasure to meet. Silent Planet is a metal-core band, out of Los Angeles, CA. As a fan of “hardcore” music I was immediately intrigued with their sound, but their sound is definitely not what I enjoy most. What hooked me on Silent Planet was how much intellectual depth and artistic maturity they package into their lyrics. What one would think is angry noises is in reality filled with deep love and passion for the marginalized of society, for those victimized by cultural and moral complacency. With everything that has been going on in the world from war, to terror attacks, and even genocide of a people for how they live their lives, it has been so refreshing to hear these issues addressed with love.

If that’s something that you might enjoy check out their frontman Garret giving a run down of the album and what inspired each song track by track:
